Wedding Stationery - What to consider

The Five Steps to Selecting your Wedding Stationery

What is the purpose of Stationery?
Your wedding stationery sets the tone of your wedding and can also reflects your personality. It is your guest’s first introduction to your wedding and therefore careful consideration needs to be given to the design, colour and overall message and feel. This is the first formal communication of your intention to spend the rest of your lives together, therefore the delivery of the message is very important.

How to select your wedding stationery
Think about the type of wedding your intend to host, will it have a theme, how will the season and setting contribute to the overall ambiance? The colours and materials can compliment your theme and should also be fitting with the surroundings and venue.

Step 1 – How many guests do you plan to invite, remember that invitations are normally sent out to couples - so you will need approximately 50% of the invites i.e. 100 guests, 50 Invitations.

Will the wedding / venue all be hosted at the same venue, if not then all the details should be included to ensure your guests know exactly where and when they need to be.

Step 2 – Once you have set a date and venue, you need to decide whom you would like to attend and draw up a list. You may wish to draw up a list for the day and evening.

Step 3 – decide on whether you would like to have a poem or reading included along with the type of wording i.e. formal layout etc. Traditionally the wording is influenced by who is hosting i.e. parents or bride and groom.

Step 4 – lay out the words etc to help you decide the size of the invite
